Description

The Bardstown Bourbon Company has collaborated with Goose Island to create a unique bourbon as part of their Collaborative Series. This limited release features a blend of 6- and 7-year Kentucky bourbon that has been aged an additional 12 months in freshly emptied Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout barrels. These barrels were not rinsed, allowing the stout-soaked staves to immediately interact with the bourbon. The final blend was then combined with a 9-year Kentucky bourbon, resulting in an expression rich in chocolate malt and dried cherry notes. The aroma is enveloping with dark chocolate, honey, toasted almond, and vanilla cream. On the palate, flavors of roasted malt, cacao, and allspice lead to a balanced and exquisite taste.
Dan Callaway, VP of Product Development for Bardstown Bourbon Co., expressed his admiration for Goose Island’s Bourbon County Brand Stout and was excited about the collaboration. He mentioned that this bourbon accentuates the depth of the stout while maintaining the beautiful notes of fruit, malt, and honey.
Goose Island is renowned in both the bourbon and beer industries as a pioneer of barrel-aged stouts. They have a history of collaborating with some of the most sought-after bourbon brands globally. Since 2010, Goose Island has released its Bourbon County Brand stout in original and limited variant releases each Black Friday.
In celebration of this collaboration, Bardstown Bourbon Co. and Goose Island will host events celebrating the art of cask finishing. One such event is a paired dinner at the Goose Island Barrel Warehouse in Chicago, featuring the 2020 Bourbon County Brand Stout and unique offerings from Bardstown Bourbon Company.
